On scanning portions of S.722, I'm stunned that it made it through the Senate, where, supposedly, Republicans hold sway at the moment - as, in large measure, it appears to be an effort to make it as though Obama never left office.

Without actually creating new law(s) it seeks to REQUIRE of the current President that he abide by and enforce certain Executive Orders put in place by a previous President - and that he be ACCOUNTABLE to the LEGISLATIVE Branch with regard to any changes he might choose to make to those EXECUTIVE Orders and their implementation.

In effect, this negates the President's ability to overturn or reverse specific prior Executive Orders - which are directives for the Executive Branch only and not laws per se, and are none of Congress' business. But this would INSTITUTIONALIZE certain EOs.

As many have noted, some previous Presidents, beginning at least with Clinton (Clinton aide Paul Begala: "Stroke of the pen. Law of the land. Kinda cool.") used EOs to bypass Congress. Obama did quite a lot of that, some of which at least was arguably unconstitutional and grounds for impeachment.

For the Senate now to be seeking to REQUIRE the current President to faithfully maintain the implementation of those EOs seems lunatic - unless, of course, it's Obama or his masters who are back of (and probably even crafted) S.722.

This appears to be the Deep State rising up on its hind legs. How so many Senators felt it a good idea to vote in favor of this thing is a mystery and needs looking into.
