In this regard, they agreed on the importance of the US administration's focus on this area of the world. President of the Republic and the senator agreed and in condemning the recent use of chemical weapons in Syria, and the necessity of an active approach to the international community to deter further cases like the above as well as finding a solution to this long-standing crisis. The visit comes a few days before the celebration of a quarter century of American recognition of Croatian independence. The United States was committed with the Republic of Croatia and during the realization of our membership in NATO and the European Union. The Republic of Croatia highly appreciates realized transatlantic partnership with the United States, according to an official statement published on the official website of the President of the Croatian.

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said that with US Senator John McCain talked about the preservation and maintenance of peace and stability in the region, bilateral relations and important issues in the world.
He said that he met McCain on issues not always simple, complex situation in the region, as well as on emergency initiative for dialogue with the Albanians. According to Vucic him, and talked about Serbia's European path and support the United States in this way.
After talks with US Senator Vučić said that he reiterated that Serbia does not want to belong to any military alliance.
Responding to a question whether the US senator urged Belgrade to recognize Kosovo and Metohija nezavinsost and impose sanctions on Russia, Vučić said that he and McCain spoke "frankly and openly" but that none of these questions is not "so driven."
"I said that we want military neutrality. We have a partnership with NATO, conducting exercises with the Russians and the Americans. We want good relations with Russia but is strategically located on the European path. This is our real policy, because Serbia is a reliable partner and therefore We respected in Moscow, Washington, Brussels, "said Vučić.
He added that the US senator met with the challenges faced by Belgrade as the process of dialogue with Kosovo Albanians.
"Senator McCain has shown great respect for Serbia as it is our obligation to superpowers like the United States, show respect," Vucic said.
He added that it was discussed about the situation in BiH, on the need for a greater presence of the US political establishment and companies in Serbia, as well as on Serbia's participation in peacekeeping operations in the world.
US Senator John McCain says the US support for Europe that is whole and peaceful, "steel strong" and that he hoped cooperation with Serbia in accelerating its progress towards Euro-Atlantic community. McCain stands for cooperation that will enable the inclusion of Serbia into the European community, which is "the power of reconciliation" in the region.
McCain added that he believed that all who are part of the civil sector allies to Serbia's European path and that their voices should be heard.
US senator thanked Serbia for its contribution in the fight against the Islamic State.
McCain said that the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina led to progress and stressed the need for this dialogue courageous leadership which, he added, repeated during a visit to Pristina during the week.
He said that the Serbian Prime Minister congratulated on the progress in economic reforms. "Sigugran'm sure the President is aware that in order to progress on this path requires further work," he added.
McCain expressed concern about Russia's behavior and attempts to topple the government in a country that is a neighbor of Serbia as well as in connection with Syria.
He said he hoped that the visit of US Secretary of State Rex Tilersona Moscow this week lead to an agreement that Russia will not allow Syria to regain the use of chemical weapons.
"Russia is something promised in 2014.. I hope that this will be the first item on the agenda," said McCain.
He said that there would be strongholds of the Islamic State in Mosul and Raki and will probably get a lot of people in Europe and possibly in the United States.
