Swedish Minister for Integration Ylva Johansson admitted that she publicly lied in a statement to the BBC that the number of rapes in Sweden is not on the rise. Among else she stated that there is no link between rising crime and uncontrolled immigration.

Her statement was a response to recent statement by an English politician Nigel Farage that the Malmo is "capital of rape in Europe."

However, statistics show that only in 2016 the number of rapes increased 16 percent and that the growth of rape is constant in the last decade, except in 2015.

Her statement was met with negative reactions in Sweden, the Labour Party spokeswoman Elizabeth Svantesson said: "We do not need more false information. Let the Minister Johansson comment on how she thinks the number of rape fell. "
