Don't mean to impose on you but I've been wanting to comment since yesterday.

The same reason we keep calling the U.S. a Democracy when it is a Republic (or constitutionally was established as such) is the same reason why Political Correctness IS soft Fascism. I don't know that there is any one person so crafty as to have planned it, but look what political correctness is doing right now. If majority rules (Democracy) then we're dead. There are all kinds of people in the Press and in Hollywood that are convincing the sheeple that "we have a right"/we're the majority so we need not pay attention to law/ we don't like something and if we make the biggest commotion we should get our way. This is all politically correct isn't it? Governmentally it's insane but it is being treated today by the mainstream as correct (or at the very least "acceptable" behavior.

Isn't this (so the wealthy or wiser minority cannot coerce or fool the poor and unschooled) precisely why the founders established a republic and NOT a pure democracy. Isn't that why we have exactly two senators per state and it makes no difference how large the population of the state? Isn't this why we have an electoral college? I feel very confident that we're on our way to major great changes but along the way I don't think we can emphasize this enough. There are principles and logic involved with government by the people and for the people. There is trickery and shady, behind-scenes deals with government by the majority (bought and paid for) and for the majority/powerful.

More to the point, fascism runs on fear. When we always have to watch what we say, that's a soft form of fascism. Been growing for years. We left Socialism/Communism in the dust several years ago.
