I did the learning curve on this stuff a while back, and can include people who accidentally get "child porn" on their system with the bug alerts screaming to "Pay their fees or get reported to their local county mounties".

1. As he said "don't panic"

2. If you have set up your system properly this stuff gets easier to fix...but can still be rough sledding

3. As a last resort (i.e. you are running a business or managing
computers for a local government ..and have the approval to spend the 14-15 K bucks.."they might be demanding" [happened in my area to local officials])..BEST ADVICE DON'T PAY ANYONE ANYTHING.

Best recovery procedure...."get used to Linux"...and use a "Live
CD or DVD" on Windows Xp.,Vista, 7 ,8 or 10

What can you do with Ubuntu Linux and a good Internet connection?

Lots of nifty stuff...including recovery from a BIOS worm.

Not going to go into all that here...google Ubuntu, Windows ransomware recovery, and anything related (BIOS bugs, child porn-ware...etc).
