The Templars Order in Portugal
When the order was extinguished, it was protected by King D Dinis and after 7 years of conversations with the Pope he got authorization to form another.
That Order was formed, Ordem de Cristo, confirmed by the Bula Ad Ea ex quibus, 14 march 1319. done at Avinhão, by Pope John XXII.
It received all lands and castles and riches belonging to the Templar Order and also all the Templars who wished that. I suppose they were hidden and in other orders during those dangerous times.
Since 1356 the main house was the old fortified monastery of Tomar. From there, later, the Order grew, always with king s protection. Infant D Henrique, is the most known personage and had a big role in the Portuguese expansion.
