This offends me, an American. It is painful to see that "America" is not to be expressed at a university. I get an image of a face, representing an American, with it's eyes and mouth erased. A sick picture of what they want us to be. It's not going to happen if I can help it, I refuse to go along with such sickness or be a part of it.

We raise our families here, celebrate births and weddings here, work, play and share sorrows and happiness here. We bring our young into the world and bury our loved ones here. We live here, our home. For most of us it's the only home we've ever known. AMERICA is our name. If that's a crime, I don't see it in any law books.

Our country represents multi-ethnicity and was built on it. It grew in leaps and bounds.We ARE multi-ethnic and have lived all our lives with and ARE people of different backgrounds and cultures. Our language and foods are intermingled as in no other country. If I want to name a child America or even a pet, or a PARTY, I will do so with no shame attached. If I went to Brazil to college there and Brazilian students had a party they named Brazil, what kind of idiot would I be if I objected on grounds of discrimination? Good God!

For you "administrators" who feel naming a holiday party "America" is wrong or shameful, what is YOUR game? To erase all our eyes and mouths? Making us ashamed? Bullcrap! Stop making immigrants feel they are being attacked and unwelcome in a country they chose to come into because their children will be all American and proud of it and there isn't a damn thing you're gonna do about it.
