NATO submarines follow the Russian fleet in Mediterranean

On the morning of November 9 a submarine Walrus of Koninklijke Marine (Dutch Royal Navy) would have approached the Russian battle group from the Admiral Kuznetsov at sea in the Mediterranean to reach the Syrian coast.

The intervention of two anti-submarine units (Severomorsk and Vice Admiral Kulakov) would dissuade the Dutch unit from continuing the approach, inviting him to leave the area.

The submarine was located 20 km away and has been identified thanks to helicopters Kamov 27, supplied to the two Russian ships.

Despite the attempt to evade hydroacoustic contact, for about an hour units of the Northern Fleet they would track the submarine, which then would have decided to leave the area of ​​the operation.

According to the spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry Konashenkov, the approach maneuvers to the Russian naval group by NATO submarines could lead to very dangerous consequences for navigation. Despite the discovery of underwater units near the Russian naval convoy it would become the practice since its entry into the Mediterranean. In the early days of November it would be up to the US Navy submarine USS Virginia. On this last contact we were not released other details, nor were recorded confirmations by the Alliance.
