High level sources report that the Republican and Democratic National Committees are at this moment engaged in unprecedented parley concerning the increasingly uncertain outcome of the 2016 presidential campaign in November. Both parties have largely conceded the overwhelmingly negative public perceptions of their candidates and in an effort to preserve the integrity of the electoral process and orderly transition, they will agree, it is now reliably reported, to recommend to Congress that an emergency amendment to the Constitution be put to a vote immediately, enabling the parties to consolidate their efforts and present the American public with a single choice at he polls to elect Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton as co-presidents and Mike Pence and Tim Kaine as co-vice-presidents.

It is believed that this will provide sufficient balance, capitalize upon the talents of both presidential candidates, and prevent either from wielding unwarranted power and influence as each is fully apprised of the other's weaknesses and is willing to use that knowledge to keep the other in check. It will also be mandated that Donald and Hillary consent to ongoing couples therapy for the duration of their administration.
