Well calling 7-11's delivery 'food' is a stretch but they beat Amazon!

7-Eleven is partnering with Flirtey to provide drone delivery to customers' residences, for the first time in the history of USA. They have successfully delivered an order to a customer's residence and have marked a milestone both in the history of US and that of global commerce too. It was conducted as part of the convenient chain's 89th birthday celebrations.

Chris Walach, Director of Operations for Nevada Institute for Autonomous Systems (NIAS) has remarked: "This delivery required special flight planning, risk analysis, and detailed flight procedures ensuring residential safety and privacy were equally integrated.”

Flirtey has already completed two orders – including hot and cold food items –using their unique drone delivery container and by using precision GPS to one of 7-Eleven's customer's residence. Both the companies have plans to include "everyday essentials" in their drone delivery packages, in near future.

Michael, 7-Eleven customer and resident at Reno, the luckiest customer to receive the delivery said: “My wife and I both work and have three small children ages 7, 6 and 1. The convenience of having access to instant, 24/7 drone delivery is priceless. It’s amazing that a flying robot just delivered us food and drinks in a matter of minutes.”

This deal is a milestone for Flirtey too as this is the largest commercial agreement for the company, since its beginning.
