German auto giant Volkswagen (VW) announced on Monday that in a few days will stop production at six plants in Germany in the context of profound legal dispute with two key suppliers.

This means that around 27,700 workers by the end of August will work part time within the drastic measures taken by the VW that it was forced to take in the factories of popular models such as the Golf and Passat after suppliers for transmissions and seat cover Automobilguss ES suspended delivery.

"While the court in Brunswick issued a provisional measure to the suppliers to continue the delivery, they have not fulfilled this obligation," announced VW.

Instead, parts manufacturers have filed an appeal to that court decision, and Volkswagen have announced that they are continuing discussions with suppliers.

VW Group "is to achieve the result of negotiations," but it could resort to legal means, its spokesman said.

Suppliers of parts claim that VW without notice or compensation violated several contracts, leaving them with no alternative but to suspend deliveries to protect their business and workforce.

Prevent spokesman, the parent company of the two companies, said Friday to the German business daily Handelsblatt that VW suppliers imposes "unacceptable conditions".

Handelsblatt also reported that VW is, from all its suppliers, asking for concessions totaling several billion euros.

Expert in auto industry said for news agency AFP that the Volkswagen is alone culpable for its weakness to purchase transmission housing from a single manufacturer.

"A global company should not procure key parts from a single medium-sized supplier," said Ferdinand Dudenhoeffer of the University of Duisburg-Essen.
