Dozens killed in anti-terrorist action, Putin addressed the nation

From Moscow is reported that there is the ongoing anti-terrorist operation in the Chechen capital Grozny. The crisis in Grozny coincided with Putin's address to the nation in which he announced major changes in the economy and sent a strong message to the West.

At least seven attackers and six police officers were killed this morning in Grozny, reports Euronews.

The attack began after police car was ambushed, then the attackers stormed the building of the local media. Soon they were surrounded by police forces.

Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov claimed that some '' terrorists were exterminated '', while others barricaded themselves in the school in the city center.

Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the nation at 12 am Moscow time. He said that he was confident that a crisis in Grozny will be resolved quickly.

In the rest of his speech he did not even slightly softened rhetoric towards the West. He accused the Western countries that they have planned "Yugoslav scenario" for Russia but that they were not successful.
"We did not let them," he said.

He also touched upon the role of sanctions and their impact on the Russian economy. He believes that the West used them to weaken Russia.

"There are waiting for us tough times," said Putin, saying that Russia can not depend on developments in foreign markets.

Putin has offered an amnesty to all those who return the money from an offshore account back to Russia.

"We have to get out of this trap of zero growth rates; for three to four years Russia will be the worlds economy with above average growth", said Putin. He announced a freeze on tax rates for four years and tax breaks for small businesses.

"Difficult times create new opportunities. We are ready to face the problems and overcome them," Vladimir Putin finished his speech.
