It was actually a Grand Jury inquiry to determine if an indictment of Wilson was warranted. As for your question, Wilson said he was afraid for his life, that Brown had assaulted him in his car, that Brown was advancing on him on the sidewalk, and that he shot at Brown until Brown fell. His hands were not raised, according to the coroner.

The larger question is, why are so many black males shot by white cops? Beyond the obvious social and economic factors, each case MUST be investigated thoroughly.

Sometimes a clever cop shoots an unarmed, innocent black man, then plants a gun on the victim. "Justifiable homicide," the prosecutor says. The community knows the truth, but cannot prove it.

But for the black community, this case was decided in advance of the Grand Jury, by the press. "Brown was shot in the back," they wrote; "Brown raised his hands in surrender," the networks echoed. These two falsehoods were accepted as truth by the community weeks or months before the Jury announced its findings.

Why would the media deliberately air falsehood? Because they don't work for the people. They work for their bosses, and their bosses work with and for the Man. The Man would love nothing better than a race war, because it's easier for the Man to get away with his own mischief when the people are looking at each other, and not at the government.
