WHAT, EXACTLY, ARE THE "PARALLELS" ???

Adolf Hitler was an army veteran of 'The Great War;' and he was wounded, or more specifically, injured in that fighting.

Donald Trump was never a soldier and never wounded in battle;

Hitler was an aspiring artist, with only a mediocre talent; in those years after the cessation of the war, he often knew actual hunger, and privation. He did have some kind of strong personal magnetism, though, but little actual way to use it..

When he finally 'hooked up' with the 'Workers Party' they had almost no money, no influence, and perhaps only 300 members.

By contrast, several of the political groupings then active had thousands of adherents, some good sources of funding, and either their own newspapers or allied publishers. The communists of that time, the 1920s, had staunch supporters and friends. But little other resources.

What we might now call 'the middle of the middle class', was then ever-so-much larger than the communists ... and richer.

Those middle middlers did not have the affections of the people though, nor the revolutionary zeal of the communist radicals.

The turning point was found when the "Great Depression" hit Germany and thousands of these 'middle middlers' lost their jobs and ... what little they had in savings or in their pensions.

That development, like a tipping point, is what the newly re-named 'Workers' Party' grabbed, in becoming the National Socialist Workers' Party, and then 'the NAZI party' for short.

Even then, Hitler was not yet a leader, but rather a very good speaker only, who learned to express the feelings and fears of the people who felt abandoned by the centrists and conservative minded intellectuals of that time, the period from 1928 to 1932 or thereabouts, especially in the bigger cities.

Trump comes from moderate success and some real wealth; he has had many advantages along the way, and he's a good "showman" for this, the television age. Hitler was good in speech-making but his coarse looks and Austrian background were big negatives.

Trump has almost nothing in common with "the Little Corporal."
