It was baptized unofficially by Cornell University as the "Terminator 2" program, inspired by the science fiction movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. In reality it is a project funded by the Air Force for the future development of a shape-shifting drone able to scan a variety of contexts.

It will be made of composite material, with metal and silicon. A kind of "liquid metal", that's why the reference to the second episode of the Terminator saga.

The goal is to develop a mini drone able to settle in ambient because of its ability to self-adapt: ​​to fly, dive into the water and swim. The program is now funded by the Pentagon intends to leverage the expertise of researchers at Cornell University to develop new military mini-drones.

What has been defined as "morphing material", according to the group of the Cornell study, is achieved by immersing silicone foam in the molten metal.
