Think about it folks, the extra cash from renting out that room may not be worth it. My guess is the victim had probably spent her cash on medical bills, etc. and needed the extra money. Perhaps she let the suspect stay for free a few days or weeks until he came up with the rent, etc. and maybe she reminded him it was due. This stuff never seems to work out once the suspects get their feet in your door.

: at risk over drunken roommates. You must determine
: yourselves to check out your boarders, renters, landlords,
: and roommates before taking up with them.
: One old fellow whom I thought would make a good construction
: partner was apparently having his own tools stolen out of
: his truck for insurance money decades ago. That was the
: best I could figure out from what he told me. Eventually
: when he drunkenly barged into my room and said two
: Jehovah's Witness ladies said the guy they saw taking an
: appliance out of his home looked a lot like me it was the
: last straw. I had not even met any Jehovah's Witness
: people. Some of us are vulnerable enough that we simply
: cannot coexist with drunks, crooks, dope addicts,
: crackheads, etc.. Naturally, I moved from that situation
: right away.
: Different time and place
: Another person who turned out to be not only a drunk, but a
: drunk with blackouts and memory problems had suddenly taken
: up with a man from Washington State. At least the man's
: license plates were from Washington State. I figure the
: roommate met the guy at a bar and the guy pegged him for
: easy money. I was busy working and had no time to keep up
: with the roommate, but out-of-the-blue one day when the man
: from Washington State was not there the roommate asks me if
: I went to the bank with him to draw out all of his
: money???!!!! The guy he had been hanging with may have
: apparently ripped him off or simply hung around until all
: his money was spent. I had to straighten him out on it
: immediately. "Where's your buddy", I asked him.
: No, I told him and reminded him that he had been hanging
: out with the man from Washington State and if he and his
: bank officials would examine the camera video of him at the
: bank he could easily see who the person was that was with
: him at the bank. Naturally, I moved from that situation
: right away.
: Different time and place
: On another occasion, after moving into a share-room situation
: in a house, the oriental landlord suddenly announced one
: day the the remote control to the television had been
: stolen. The house was then placed under a crime-watch
: program, etc.. The problem is, the remote was the exact
: kind as my remote to my own smaller television. I kept my
: own remote completely separate from the house remote and I
: found this whole thing very disconcerting and soon moved
: from that situation. I really don't believe anyone 'stole'
: the remote.
: Such stunts as the three described above can place you, the
: tenant, or you the roommate at risk of prosecution or worse
: - paybacks for something you might not have done.
: Stay on your own property and check out those you rent to or
: from or those you are rooming partners with. If a former
: addict or drunk has turned over a new leaf it is possible
: they might make a great roommate, but if they still indulge
: in old problem-habits it could ruin you or get you killed.
: Remember to have a place to go at dark, be home by dark, and
: stay there until daybreak.
: The police scams which pervade America are the stupidest,
: dumbest ideas ever invented. While the corporate thugs pour
: more millions of illegals into the U.S., there are those
: who would place 'We, The Forgotten People' at odds with one
: another. When there is no place left to go where will they
: go?
