British TV has it's mind numbing murder/kill movies and also PC correct crap filled with gratuitous sex scenes. Usually with mixed race couples (just to be PC correct :-) Doc Martin just happens to be one of the good ones, much like 'Little House on the Prairie' and a few other shows were.

Thanks for your feedback and I agree, movies of late are awful crap.

PS I watched several Larkrise to Candlford episodes but wanted to finish all the Doc Martin ones first. I can't stand laugh track comedies and yet I find myself laughing out loud at the Doc.. :-)

OMG this is far far too close to the mark.

(BTW try Monarch of the Glen, and Larkrise to Candleford, these are wonderful, much like Doc Martin. Or maybe Yes Prime Minister, Thin Blue line). American shows have nothing even coming close to the level of the Beeb, but even the Beeb is getting an influx of filth. (the Misfits spring to mind)

It has gotten to the point where if it is American, I don't 2want to watch.

You do not have to have filth or gratuitous sex to be funny..and God knows in these times we could use something uplifting and visionary.

Have stopped going movies above PG as well. Last time I did, we went to see Wolf of Wall street, silly me, I thought it would be an INTERESTING expose' on stock trading crimes. Mostly it was non-stop filth. I left feeling like I needed to wash my head out with peroxide. Felt traumatized, never again.
