Finmeccanica signs the contract for the supply of 28 Eurofighter Typhoon to Quvait

The Ministry of Defence of Kuwait and Finmeccanica, responsible for part of the Eurofighter consortium of commercial campaign Kuwait, today signed the contract for the supply of 28 Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft to be built in Italy. The signature, which is set in the framework of the intergovernmental agreement signed earlier, was attended by the Minister of Defense Roberta Pinotti and his Kuwaiti counterpart, h.e. Shaikh January Khaled Al Jarrah Al Sabah.

The contract signed by Finmeccanica also includes supplies in the areas of logistics, operational support and training of flight crews and ground staff, which will be conducted in collaboration with the Italian Air Force. The agreement includes upgrading of infrastructure in Kuwait necessary operations of the aircraft.

Eurofighters for Kuwait, in the more advanced configuration, will be equipped with the innovative E-Scan radar (electronic scanning radar) developed by the European consortium EuroRADAR, led by Finmeccanica.

The contract with Kuwait, signed at the end of a thorough assessment phase extended to other aircraft in the same category Eurofighter, it is part of a wide-standing partnership between the Ministries of Defense and of the Italian Gulf country, able to further strengthen the cooperation between the two nations and other European countries members of the consortium (the UK, Germany and Spain).
