Anything not found in nature, and in the same form and with the same supporting compounds, is likely to be recognized by the natural body as a toxin. In addition, mainstream drugs cure precious little, instead they mask symptoms and make the body perform unnaturally. Thus, that is why over 95% of mainstream drugs have side effects - side effects which lead to further medical problems and more and more drugs, which is apparently the whole idea anyway. Very, very few mainstream medications have been studied in combination and most studies of single drugs are performed by the manufacturer - look how well that worked with Vioxx, to name just one of many, many dangerous drugs. Once you add a second, and a third and a fourth prescribed and/or over the counter medication you literally become a living - or dying as the case may be - experiment.

If dangerous mainstream medications were eliminated then mankind could turn to nature, as we have for thousands of years.
