Mr. John B. Poindexter founded JB Poindexter & Co. Inc. in 1985 and has been its Chief Executive Officer since 1994, President since November 2006 and Chairman of the Board since 1988. Mr. Poindexter served as President of JB Poindexter & Co. from November 2002 to September 2005. He served as Majority Limited Partner of J.B. Poindexter & Co. LP from 1985 to 1996. From 1983 to 1985, he served as Co-Managing Partner of KD/P Equities that he co-founded. From 1976 to 1985, he served for Smith Barney, Harris Upham & Co. J.B. Poindexter & Co., Inc. designs, manufactures, and markets commercial truck bodies, step vans, pickup truck caps and tonneaus, funeral coaches and limousines, specialty oil and gas industry equipment, and expanded foam packaging.
It operates in four segments:
Morgan, Morgan Olson, TAG, and Specialty Manufacturing.
The Morgan segment manufactures commercial medium-duty truck bodies for dry freight; and refrigerated trucks and vans to truck rental and leasing companies, truck dealers, and companies that operate fleets of delivery vehicles.
The Morgan Olson manufactures step van bodies for parcel, food, newspaper, uniform, and linen delivery; and supplies service parts for step vans and truck bodies, as well as offers aftermarket support services.
The TAG segment manufactures fiberglass and aluminum pickup truck caps and tonneaus under the Leer, Century, Raider, LoRider, BoxTop, and Pace Edwards brand names;
and trailer window and door components, such as locks and gas struts under the State Wide Aluminum brand name to individuals, small businesses, and fleet operators.
The Specialty Manufacturing segment manufactures funeral coaches and limousines for funeral homes, livery companies, and authorized dealers under the Eagle Coach and Federal Coach brand names;
and expandable polystyrene and polypropylene foam for packaging applications, which include medical, electronics, food, furniture, plumbing, and appliance industries.
This segment also provides high-precision machining, casting services, and parts assembly for the oil and gas services industry; and various services, including computer-controlled precision machining, electrical discharge machining, electron beam welding, trepanning, gun drilling, and electromechanical assembly.
The company markets its products through dealers and distributors primarily in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Europe.
