Since I, and many others have journeyed through the plethora of PTwB's promises with regards to paper promises - from our parents' experiences with actual gold/paper in the early thirties, to silver certificate paper and actual silver coins through the mid sixties to arrive at the promise paper of today's debt notes...

In a nutshell, If one cannot trust the promises and motivations of our own people, just how in the world are we going to believe words written on a different piece of paper?

Now, of course, most liberals will. I will not.

It reminds me of the miners in Appalachia. Their plight is really no different than ours today. Typically, they worked and were paid in script which could only be redeemed at the company store. The store controlled the prices of the services and items available. One could not spend the script anywhere else. It was worthless, much like the debtnotes of today.

When the store raised the prices, the miners had no choice but to use credit, getting them in the position of lifetime servitude....

I had an uncle, now deceased from black lung disease, from working in the mines. I remember as a young child He told me the story of how he got free of mine debt.

He sent two of his older boys 30 miles away to work in town. They would buy and bring items from town that were dear in the mining camps to church on Sundays, and he would take them back to the minecamp and sell them for mine script. Over the course of only 7 months, he managed to raise enough script to buy himself out of debt and move away. Many others left but were always traced down by 'mine police' and brought back until their debt was paid to the company.
