Any sign that whistle-blowing is not fully dead yet is good news indeed

That was a very good article posted by Lymerick about Alayne Fleischmann. It was written by Matt Taibbi and seems to have been originally published here by Rolling Stone magazine on Nov. 6, 2014.

I will admit that it took a bit of concentration for me because I often have some difficulty with topics about economics since I am not all that knowledgeable in that area. But Taibbi is a good writer and manages to get the story across to a layman like me.

I am especially glad to have read this article because there have been so many stories in the past few years that seem to suggest that "whistle-blowing" itself is under attack and in danger, that fewer and fewer people are willing to take on that role due to the grief and troubles that are often the consequences of doing so. Losing jobs, becoming informally black-listed and unemployable.

So it is heartening to read of any brave soul who blows the whistle on wrong-doing despite efforts to keep her from talking. The article points out that Alayne Fleischmann did in fact suffer employability problems on her return to her native Canada but certain that she did the right thing. Actions of conscience are always an inspiration to us all.
