How jolly! Another brain-rinsing article to reinforce the 'technology-is-better-than-mere-humans' message from the corporatocracy intent on controlling, and profiting from, every aspect of human existence.

These controllers of humanity don't need to pay for CCTV and face recognition surveillance if stupid people are seduced into giving them live, real time, GPS located data about everyone's facial expressions, vocal inflections and mood.

Consider this: If I had spoken the above sentences to you in person and you had one of these 'wonderful' (not) apps on your smartphone, it would have identified my sarcastic tone and my disgust that there was yet another invasion of our private conversations by technology that is beyond our personal control.

In real time, that information is then broadcast into the ether on a radio frequency unique to your GPS located smartphone and can be 'collected' by "law enforcement" personnel who are able to tune into the conversation because it has probably been flagged as "potentially subversive to the state" by their own super-computer.

Will you then see someone come out of the crowd and 'collect' me for a stint in a re-education facility or, will you see me start to wince with the painful beginnings of a corrective punishment inflicted by the programmable nanobots we have all ingested with our food?

A bit too Orwellian? I think not.

The public sales pitch for all of these 'wonderful improvements' in technology emphasizes how much easier life will be if everyone adopts them quickly. But it's just a sales pitch to get access to your money so they can make more profit.

I think that there is also a second, more private sales pitch to sell the same product to the people and groups that want to use the personal information and intelligence accessible through these technologies.

Selling the same product twice... now that's good business!

I think we benefit from taking a moment to think seriously about whether communications technology is really serving us as individuals and families or whether we have become enslaved by that technology to our own detriment as human beings.

Try a few days without access to a smartphone, cellphone, tablets and/or computer equipment to give you time to think about it properly.
