Belgian authorities identified Abdelhamid Abaaouda as the main organizer of the terrorist attacks in Paris, reports the French radio RTL
He is 27-year-old Belgian, who is of Moroccan descent - and the leader of jihadist cells in Belgium.
Recall, at the beginning of this year he was arrested in Greece together with three other Islamists for plotting terrorist attacks on policemen and police stations throughout Belgium. In several Belgian communities then were carried out raids to expose Islamist cells that planned to kill police officers in public places and stations, in attacks across the country, according to the federal public prosecutor's office. Two suspected jihadists were killed in the attack in Verviers, in the east of Belgium, where they were hiding.
Abauda was detained by Greek authorities, but then he was released shortly after his arrest without bail, since then Belgian police is after him. It was supposed that he has returned to Syria and from there managed operations in Belgium and the rest of Europe.
He is linked with one of the attackers in Paris, Ibrahim Abdeslamom, but also with his brother Saleh, who grew up in the same neighborhood as Abaaoudu.
Abaooud is one of the executors of the ISIL in Syria, and is also known for appearing in the extremist footage that shows how car pulls decapitated body into a mass grave.
Earlier this year he was sentenced to 20 years in prison
Abdelhamid Abaaoud, a suspected "mastermind" of Paris attack, was sentenced earlier this year to 20 years in prison after he was tried in temporarily absence for the recruitment for the Islamic state in Syria.
He was one of 32 people who were accused for managing one of the largest jihadist networks in Belgium, although many of the suspects, including Abaadouda, passed a trial in the absence and are still on the run.
Belgian news agency Belga reported in June that the Abaaoud was sentanced to 20 years in prison, the maximum sentence, along with the other accused, Khalid Zerkanijem, who was sentenced to 12 years for encouraging people to go to Syria.
