I would say the truth about China resides somewhere between Fulford's current comments and those of reader V.

In Response To: Reader: "Today, Chinese are the most free and have the largest pure Capitalistic economy in the world." (hobie)
Fulford has in the past had much more positive things to say about China. He does seem to be somewhat more negative about them recently. I guess China is taking a very strong bargaining position in negotiations for the hoped-for post-Cabal world. But that is their usual negotiating style.
On the other hand, reader V. paints a rather too rosy picture of current conditions in China. The economy is currently in reasonable condition, and is indeed by many measures the largest in the world, but it is partially dependent on the export of goods to other countries, and therefore China will not be immune to declines in the economic health of other countries. Even now, stagnant international trade has made it much more difficult for Chinese young people to enter the work force. College graduates are forced to compete for assembly line jobs. Also, much economic expansion in the recent era in China was fueled by too-easy credit, and recent limits placed by the government on commercial credit have forced smaller, less well connected companies to go to the gray market for much more expensive loans.
As to freedom in China, in some ways Chinese people are more free and in other ways less. There is less intrusion in people's everyday lives in China. Despite their totalitarian past, the Chinese government does not feel the need to track every citizen's whereabouts and financial transactions every moment of every day, in contrast to what seems to be the trend among the alphabet agencies in America. Use of cash for everyday transactions is common.
However, if you attract the attention of the police in China and manage to get yourself arrested, you are generally in a much worse situation than you would be in the U.S. And you are much more likely to be arrested for expressing opinions opposed to the government in China than in the U.S. For example, calling for a multiparty system is a definite no-no. Also, government censorship of internet information is much more entrenched in China than in the U.S.
Religious freedom in China is conditional on participation in a government approved and restricted religious organization. Everyone knows what happened to Falun Gong. But Christian worship outside the government approved Christian churches is basically forbidden, forcing people to worship in private homes, with a constant risk of being raided. Even the approved Christian churches have problems with government. In one Chinese city, an approved congregation built a beautiful new cathedral, only to have it immediately torn down by a jealous local government for previously unannounced "building violations".
So the situation in China is complex, with good aspects and bad aspects like everywhere else.
