By the way, I went outside before with my trusty accurate compass and aligned it with the driveway.

I did this back in late 1988 with the same compass not long after I moved in to the new (old) house.

Today the compass shows the same alignment to North as it did in late 1988!

I have checked it through the years since 1988 and the North direction has never altered.
