As promised by Elon Musk himself, Tesla's Model X will be available to customers by the end of September. However, its Model 3, which is known to be more affordable will be available after two years.

Musk announced on a tweet that the first production cars of the Model X will be due on Sept 29. This will be the first crossover utility vehicle for the company and by the looks of it, the car looks stunning.

Tesla also opened an online design studio for buyers who made reservations for the Model X Signature Series. Customers now will be able configure and design their own cars, according to the choices given by the studio.

Tesla Motors Club forum member Mark Z provided images, specifications and price for the new car model. According to the post, some of its standard equipment includes Falcon Wing rear doors, automatically retracting rear spoilers, parking sensors and blind spot warning, automatic emergency braking, automatic keyless entry, GPS enabled homelink, daytime running lights, and self parking and automatic lane steering.

The all-electric SUV will also have a range of 240 miles and a battery of 90kWh, which is more efficient than the Model S that has a power pack sized at 70kWh.

Some of the options for customers upgrade include a US$10,000 Ludicrous Speed Upgrade to allow the vehicle to go 0-60 in 3.6 seconds, a US$1,000 Subzero Weather package that can heat the steering wheel and all of the passenger seats, and a US$750 Tow package that will allow the vehicle to tow up to 5,000 pounds of equipment.

When it comes to the Model 3, Elon Musk tweeted that the future mass market car will be smaller and cheaper than the Model X. However, we will still have to wait two years from now to see it fully operational.
