Alan, none of this is my idea, or yours. The hollow Earth idea
has been a superstition for a very long time, but mathematics doesn't defend it, and most of that doesn't lie.

I wish people wouldn't publish articles about hollow/flat Earth ideas. None of it holds any water.

Caves are one thing, but hollow Earth? That's something else again. If the Earth is actually hollow (by definition), that leaves out the means of generating a magnetic field (that force that makes compasses work) because it eliminates the possibility of an iron core. Soundings prove the iron core exists, hence no hollow Earth. It is so rare that there are only 5 objects in the Solar System (if we include the Sun) that have a magnetic field, and Earth is certainly one of them.

A truly hollow Earth would prove difficult to relate distances, and would confound estimations of distances. Concaveness is not the same as what happens in a convex environment. Gravity, balance and centrifugal forces would also provide a lot of fun for any inhabitants.

Does this mean I am contradicting my own point? No, of course not. We observe what there is to see. What we can't see is the holographic projection of the Universe. But we can apply mathematics to it, and see farther; just like London did when a fellow discovered that scarlet fever was caused around a well in the 1700's, and the statistics discovered its location. When the authorities shut off the well, the illnesses stopped.

Cause and effect is real, according to our observations. Observation in the larger sense is incredibly dull-witted. Our senses can and often are fooled. That's why we test our observations, and form statistics and mathematics in a general sense, to see farther.

Our observable Universe is very clear on the matter. Lots of hollow Earth ideas out there. Every one of them is built around the notion of answering and confounding some small voice of reason.

Earth is not hollow, and won't be any time soon.
