Youtube just gets better and better!

This truly is a very nice high quality print (i.e. video file) if you download the 720p version.

1. Downloading Movies
(I use the "Flashgot" Firefox add-on
to download Youtube movies. If you right-click the Flashgot icon after installing the add-on you can then choose from "Available formats". Pick 720p, the best one).

Since my hearing is such that I need captions for almost everything I immediately searched for them.

2. Downloading Subtitles
(One of the best sites for this is called "Subscene.com" and the page for this film is here: http://subscene.com/subtitles/foreign-correspondent).

The subtitles didn't quite match in timings (I use VLC Player to play videos, which shows subtitles beautifully and with many options).

3. Adjusting Subtitles

Another free program called Subtitle Workshop allows you to adjust a subtitle file to match whatever version of a movie file you happen to have.

So in almost no time at all I had a subtitle file which matches the fine version of "Foreign Correspondent" which Patriotlad has posted. Now I can watch the movie without missing bits of dialog due to my gradually failing hearing.

I wanted to share this subtitle file with those in my own predicament, so I will post it in this thread. I have tried before to post a subtitle file right in the forum but usually the file is too large to post directly, so I will probably have to post a link for down downloading.

If you put the subtitle file in the same folder where you have downloaded the movie and rename both files to have the same NAME part (filename minus extension) then VLC will automatically find it. e.g. I named the two files like this:

Foreign_Correspondent_1940_720p.mp4
Foreign_Correspondent_1940_720p.srt

Otherwise you can rightclick in VLC as the movie is playing, choose "Subtitles" and then "Add Subtitle File" and then find the file. (Easier to just rename them as described).
