This is so tempting.I'll throw my hat in. We are all looking in every nook and cranny, trying to figure out this conundrum.

My earliest memory about GOD is the revolting and very weird sculpture of a lifeless man hanging on a cross. Owwwwwwww...!

This is what I found about this subject. What I will say here is a product of my research and inner knowing.

A point of view.

Here it is:

Yes, there is a GOD,............

............. and there is a god

I must remind you that where we are....this physical universe called 3D is a virtual reality. It is a hologram, propped up by light and sound, and is being kept alive by an energy field known to us only as SOURCE, or TAO, or ALL THAT IS.This energy field is the SOURCE of everything we ever know. When our ancestors go into their dream time, or when they go into a shamanic journey, the are trying to connect with this
energy being. When I say ,energy being,...it seems to me that this is the being that programs everything ..the DNAs, cells , planets, stars, galaxies,....an unerring programmer, it's creations are so perfect, they are breath taking. It appears to me as a Being because I can actually get answers when I speak to it...!I actually get what I ask in perfect form, as I imagined Some call this being...Awareness or Consciousness. Or Non-dual consciousness or Absolute Power, Absolute Intelligence. The Unified Field. Oneness.

This SOURCE does not reside only in churches or synagogues or mosques, but is everywhere present. And since it is everywhere
present, it is available for us to create anything that we wish to create. It is like a Genie, sensitive and obedient . This GOD is inside of us as well. We are one with it, we were never separated from it because if this SOURCE is eternal, hey.... we also are.

OK, you got that.
THAT IS GOD.

Now, who are these heirarchical GOds and Lords that everybody is worshipping..?
Hmmmm............

It appears that our ancestors...those who created our physical bodies wanted to experience being separate from SOURCE, in an illusory way... Inside a virtual universe. So, they created a scheme, or a scam...They programmed us to be stoopids, then they created a CONSTRUCT (a construct is a consciously created entity ,from etheric substance.) It has no awareness of its own, and can only be programmed by it's creator, or by the energy and faith of a group of people. they created a program called GOD and and introduced this Construct in a religious setting.
The rest is history..!

So, people...what you are worshipping as GOD in HEAVEN,LORDS of this and that, SAVIOR, etc....are illusory Constructs, being powered only by your belief, love and devotion....your very own GOD energy.

This has to be the cosmic joke.
