As far as the article on asylum seekers, it was decided by the 'Liberal' government with the fearless leader Tony Abbott to stop the "illegal" arrivals by boat.

The people from Asia and the subcontinent who risked their lives by coming to the Australian mainland were not true asylum seekers apparently, but line jumpers who apparently faked their identities and performed other frauds.

There was also racketeering going on by those unknowns offshore who were paid big money to get the "asylum seekers" a ride to Australia. Some of these "illegal" people on the basic quality boats lost their lives along the way here, many sinking in deep waters. Most of them went into 'Serco' and 'Transfield' corporation run Detention Centers which are mainly located off shore. Some of the people held in detention were eventually allowed in to settle here apparently. Some were sent back to the area they left from. A "case by case basis".

A lot of Aussies saw this "illegal" entry as unfair to the genuine people who want to 'emigrate' here who are awaiting their turn to settle here.

There are rules set by the Government as to what is to be followed when settling here. Unfortunately many of these "legal" settlers do not follow the rules.

There were also many British children who were forcibly sent to Australia many decades ago in the early parts of the 20th century.

There is so much to all this and I do not have the energy to set it all out. There would be numerous links available on the net to edify with on the subject.
