Biden recently came out in favor of surgery for resident transgender children, telling a panel of social media influencers that he believes the efforts being made by some states to stop children from getting irreversible surgeries is “immoral” and “outrageous.”
The topic came up when Biden spoke to 25-year-old TikTok star Dylan Mulvaney, a transgender activist. When Mulvaney opened the interview by telling the president that he was currently on his 221st day of publicly transitioning, Biden responded, “God love you.”
In the segment, which was aired by the progressive news outlet Now This News, Mulvaney asked Biden if he believes states should be allowed to regulate sex change operations and other forms of so-called “gender-affirming healthcare,” such as puberty blockers, for children.
Biden answered: “I don’t think any state or anybody should have the right to do that as a moral question. As a legal question, I just think it’s wrong.”
