If so, the term "CCTV" is a misnomer and improperly applied as CCTV is an acronym for "Closed Circuit TeleVision"...which is a video recording system ISOLATED to on-site use and recording UNLESS it was tapped into for external wired/wireless transmission.

CCTV is a somewhat antiquated acronym in the way that MOST video security systems are accessible via secure Internet Protocol (IP Addresses) which the multiple video camera data streams are aggregated to a central server for "Command and Control".

This is especially the case for PTZ (Pan, Tilt, Zoom) cameras and cameras that use "zone triggering"...when a predetermined zone of pixels in the framed image changes (detects movement) the server will start recording the data stream with pertinent "time & date stamp". Recording "dead airtime" is wasteful for data storage and makes more work of finding pertinent recorded events.
