Like A-Ha's 'Take On Me,' Tears For Fears' 'Everybody Wants To Rule The World' is another iconic song from 1985 that jumps right out at grabs your attention the first time you hear it. The first time I heard it was in 2008 when I started listening to the Alex Jones radio show and it was part of their bumper music. No, I wasn't living under a rock in 1985, my interests and concerns were elsewhere.
Tears For Fears is a British Group, and the idea for the song began as 'Everybody Wants To Go To War,' which wasn't working out for them until they changed the theme to 'Everybody Wants To Rule The World.' The video is so-so, but it was something to see on MTV while the music played.
When watching the official video the other day, YouTube followed it up with a new video of Tears For Fears doing a live performance of the song just this year.
It was good to see Roland Orzabal on Curt Smith still around and as a couple of old guys still pulling it off, rather well, 37 years later.
