Used to work at the VA hospital in Durham, NC. One week end I needed a rectal tube to give a new admission meds by rectum as he was too sick to take them by mouth.

There was not a rectal tube in the hospital. The next Monday I recounted the problem at morning report. A CNA said it would not have happened if she had been there. She always kept one stuck back.That is how short we were on vital supplies.

On the positive side, this is the way our vets get the necessary supplies they need. ...by the graft and stealing getting out to the public.AND that was the only time I did not have what I needed to do my job. AND the nurses were the best !! Dedicated and good...

I never worked for a nicer kinder patient population than the vets.
