Yes, I too, hadn’t been to a Theatre in a couple of years and was drawn to see the latest Top Gun like most, because of an attachment to seeing the first.

I have to tell ya that this sequel was pure enjoyment for me. Tom Cruise did not disappoint one bit in his acting ; he was believable all the way as Maverick ,
35 years later or so.

The action was so real also ! It was so palatable compared to seeing the usual Hollywood slop of male-oriented entertainment consisting of mostly violence with shooting and “things blowing up.”

This latest Top Gun movie, in my opinion, has a deeper or more interesting plot than the first one, and, because of a few poignant scenes I had tears streaming down my face (which isn’t unusual for me, being a triple Pisces. The scene that really did it was when the navel cemetery in San Diego was shown, as I was there for my father-in-law’s funeral).

The Val Kilmer scene was really emotional also, especially when you’re the same age as these actors. Val was the bigger heart-throb for me than even Tom back in the 80’s.

All in all, it’s a great summer flick to see on the Big Screen .

No doubt it will be amongst the 10 or 20 something films they’ll have running for Best Picture next year. And yes Andrew Klavin, it should definitely stand out against all the “woke films”.
