Hello Lymerick,

I wanted you to know that the entire last year of my final deployment in Iraq was spent escorting Archaeological teams throughout the country of Iraq.

This was 2002-2003

Mostly along the Euphrates river basin where the original Sumerian cities were built like Ur, Uruk and Eridu.

Anything and everything they found or picked up was boxed up and sent back in CIVILIAN cargo jets.

I saw at least 4 of them loaded yet there were many more.

These archaeologists were looking specifically for cylinder seals (rolled clay tablets) like the one I have pictured. - The famous "Giving of the Plow" that depicts a God giving humans agriculture.

Even though I spent over 7 years total in Iraq, and knew the countryside and spoke Arabic, it seemed very strange that they used a decorated USMC Gunnery Sgt as a traveling guide and guard.

Anyway, I thought you should know.
