Hi Hobie,

My friend and I have been camping near Kentucky Lake in a little cabin. On Saturday night, when the alarms started going off for tornadoes, we ran down to our neighbors' house and watched the very, very strange storm for quite some time. Never did go into the shelter. We all said "that is not natural". The lightning looked like it was out of a sci-fi movie: pure white and solid in so many places while the branching lightning crawled across the sky (rather than "sparking").

I noticed that someone here on RMN called it a plasma storm. I hadn't thought of that at the time, but the description fits.

Driving around about 20 miles from here is very, very difficult. The destruction is eerily not like tornado aftermaths that I have seen (I grew up in Ohio and lived in a "tornado alley" at one point). I even had one come up right behind my barn. I don't know if this is what made it skip over my farm, but I ran up the hill and pointed my cloudbuster directly at the center of the funnel.
