Suspect Sought in Freeway Overcrossing Physical Altercation

San Rafael, CA – On Sunday, September 12th, 2021, SRPD received reports of a suspect punching a man during a political rally on the US-101 freeway Coleman pedestrian overcrossing. The suspect fled before police arrival and is wanted on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and assault resulting in great bodily injury. The suspect is described as a 25 to 35-year-old white male adult, 5 foot 11-inches to 6 foot tall, 180 to 190 pounds, shoulder-length curly red/blond hair, wearing a light-colored – possibly blue or green shirt, blue jeans, and blue baseball hat.

At 3:20 PM, the California Highway Patrol transferred a 9-1-1 call to the San Rafael Police Department reporting a physical altercation on the Coleman pedestrian crossing over the US-101 freeway. The initial report stated that a male subject was punching and kicking an older adult male and was then observed fleeing the overcrossing heading east toward the Coleman School area of San Rafael. Two additional 9-1-1 calls were made to SRPD reporting the same.

SRPD Officers arrived on the scene and located several witnesses along with the male victim on the ground who had been assaulted. The San Rafael Fire Department was also dispatched to the scene to assist the victim.
