We hear gunfire and explosions, and wounded are at least 20 people

In Macedonian town of Kumanovo this morning, around 4:40 am, started the armed conflict between the police and hitherto unknown armed group, in which, according to unofficial information, were killed three policemen, reports N1 tv. Citizens are not allowed to leave their homes, from Kumanovo village near the city center is heard the gunfire and explosions and helicopters are flying over the city.

As reported by Reuters, special forces in armored vehicles blocked the suburb of the city, located 40 km north of Skopje. Helicopters fly over the area where in 2001 the fighting took place between ethnic Albanian rebels and government forces, before the diplomatic efforts prevented a general civil war in Macedonia.

Pro-government Sitel TV reports that there are about 20 injured in Kumanovo. TV Nova also reports that there are injured and killed civilians. Media in Macedonia, which broadcast programs in the Albanian language, reported that during the morning's conflict civilians were killed.

The latest clashes could lead to new instability in a country where in recent weeks rising tensions between the government and the opposition over allegations of illegal surveillance and other abuse, Hina reports. From the Ministry of Interior of Macedonia does not arrive any information on this case.

Serbia has today sent to the border crossings with Macedonia additional police forces and the army, and Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic scheduled a special session Sunday of the Office for the Coordination of security services, announced the Belgrade electronic media. Because of the increased risk of terrorism, on the Serbian border units of the Serbian army and police are enhanced, according to the Belgrade daily Blic. Macedonian border police withdrew from the border between Serbia and Macedonia, after the conflict in Kumanovo, said Blic. Belgrade media with great diligence report on the events in Kumanovo, Hina reports.
