There are many variables, and possibilities.

Most people are not at every location simultaneously, and cannot make concrete judgments about the majority of "situations".

There is always a great deal of hear-say.

There is nothing wrong with analysis of facts, possible situations, possible scenarios, or rumors.

Personal experience, logic, behavioral patterns, and intuition serve well.

It is not uncommon for one's own shadow to spook oneself.

Sometimes, when you are in close proximity to another, or a particular situation, or group, it is hard to see the reality of what is happening.

It is hard to listen to someone close to you, because your past experiences with that someone, have made you numb to the expressions coming from them.

You prejudge their expressions.

For example, if you have found a flaw in them or their expressions in the past, you tend to apply that judgment to everything coming from them.

As if they cannot evolve.
