I think you've got the wrong take on this one. No shots were fired. I think the most that can be said is that the couple may arguably have been "brandishing" firearms on their own property as a mob of strangers broke through gated borders of the couple's property and was headed their way.

Bizarrely, according to the Daily Wire article: 'St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardner, a Democrat, claimed that the McCloskey’s defending their private property was a “violent assault” and that authorities “will use the full power of Missouri law to hold people accountable.”'

To be clear, a person can only use deadly force in defense if they have a reasonable fear that the alleged offender is threatening them, or another innocent person, with deadly force. Further, a person who is deemed to be the aggressor in a confrontation that turns deadly will be deemed ineligible to raise a “stand your ground” defense."
