This is horrible news. Our pristine National Parks are one of the most wonderful things about America.

How did your Senators do?

I am thankful that my two NY senators voted against the amendment and I shall write to thank them but if yours are in the "Yeas" section you should take them to task.

In fact, all democratic senators voted against the ammendment, and all but 3 republican senators voted for it

"Under this amendment, national parks that have been set up to protect natural wonders such as the Grand Canyon, the Florida Everglades, the Giant Sequoias of California, and Yellowstone would be put up for sale. And that is the wet dream of oil companies, chemical companies, and mining companies who would love nothing more than take every resource they can their greedy hands on until there is nothing left. And you can forget about taking your family to enjoy a nice outing at these parks since the new owners would likely put big ole “PRIVATE PROPERTY” and “NO TRESPASSING” signs up to give Americans the middle finger." Amendment No. 838

(Purpose: To establish a spending-neutral reserve fund relating to the disposal of certain Federal land)

At the appropriate place, insert the following:

SEC. ___. SPENDING-NEUTRAL RESERVE FUND RELATING TO THE DISPOSAL OF CERTAIN FEDERAL LAND.

The Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate

may revise the allocations of a committee or committees,

aggregates, and other appropriate levels in this

resolution for one or more bills, joint resolutions,

amendments, amendments between the Houses, motions, or

conference reports relating to initiatives to sell or

transfer to, or exchange with, a State or local government
