Patrick McGean was a retinal photographer with a background in ophthalmology. He learned from direct work experience that there is no hope for a good corneal transplant if the tissue is not fresh out of the body within 6 Hours.

Organic Sulfur came to his attention by accident. More specifically, in 1999 an 89-year-old gentleman whom he knew named Jay Farmer threw a bag of organic sulfur onto his desk next to a 800 count bottle of TUMS®.

Farmer said, "Take this, you young whippersnapper, rather than those darn TUMS!"

McGean followed Farmer's advice, and the rabbit hole suddenly opened wide before him. He immediately noticed that the gastroenteritis problem that plagued him for 28 years had vanished in just 4 days.

The Sulfur Study formally began as a result of being able to defeat his son’s testicular cancer. In 1999 the doctors whom Patrick had trained informed him that his son would not live to see his 21st birthday. Patrick's son was a committed believer in taking organic sulfur orally who never complained, even after undergoing chemotherapy therapy at home. During treatment, his son looked like a Shmoo from the Li'l Abner comic strip. Today, Patrick's son is very much alive and is employed as a union welder in Gardner, KS.
