I worked a few years in the education system, not a teacher, but had plenty of interactions with the teachers daily. To me it is like joining a football or basketball team for the teachers, and they all buy in to the plan and the new plan and the new plan.

I saw many of the older teachers worked out of the system, they were too effective. With some states, including the one I worked in, having gotten rid of teacher tenure it is much easier to weed out the old effective teachers. Each year they get an evaluation and again having seen the teachers work with students and see the effectiveness you know that hearing the results of the teacher evals is another game. Get rid of the old teachers, with masters degrees and still very effective. THey may also be making $50 -70,000 a year. SO with so many school districts having so called budget problems there is much reason to get rid of those old teachers and now the school district can hire two or more young teachers that can easily be molded to the new schools of teaching thougnt.

Yup, I was around when the new Common COre was being intruduced and there was much skepticism, BUT mostly the administration of the schools are more like CEO or managers of corporations and use all the games on the teaching and support staff... I heard many of the admin dictates, teach it this way or perhaps you would like to find work elsewhere.

So I see much weakness of the teachers, no one will stand up and say NO, it is not working and the new system does not work either. THe teachers just go along and collect their checks.
