HOA's are just forms of corrupt businesses who entice people to purchase property that the HOA has the ultimate intent to own.

As I comprehend an HOA's power starts with purchasing the land, and putting in the utilities and sewer and making an agreement with city/county authorities to maintain that space, repairing broken lights, keeping sewer and power flowing into the area, and in return they maintain a lien on the land but someone purchases a home upon it, not knowing the land is encumbered.

Then anything that happens on the HOA's land, they enforce and law firms and judges and courts say we entered into the agreement knowingly, willingly, and intentionally, yet they do not want to recognize an agreement that lacks full disclosure is voidable.

No one wants to void the agreement. And the states, all 50 have in their constitutions no contracts in perpetuity, but an HOA agreement starts for 30 and is auto renewed, even as people do not participate in their meetings or vote in their elections, they can keep voting to renew the contract until you great, great, great, great grandchildren are paying them to live on the land the home is on.

Had I known, I would never have purchased a home in an HOA, and from experience, I will NEVER purchase a home in an HOA, I don't care if I find a home where my neighbor has broken down cars in the front yard, or pink flamingos.

That freedom of expression is better than the control and abuse you find in trying to abide by the rules and covenants (sounds wicked huh?) that HOA's make people live by.

It is definitely a community for the hive mind types, and we know they live among us.

Think, (movie) The Stepford Wives, or something similar when you want to think of the type of control they want to have over people who live within the boundaries they created.
