Flames tore through Eagle Creek Canyon on September 2 after he threw two live fireworks into the woods.

The inferno, which caused almost 2,000 evacuations, took 928 firefighters six days to extinguish, the Oregonian reported.

It also led to the extended shutdown of a major highway and destruction to the major outdoor tourist attraction.

Hood River County judge John Olson said the boy could set up a payment plan, though payments can be halted after 10 years as long as he complies with rules and does not commit other crimes.
