The problem with just about every single meat study is that they lump all meat eaters together and then compare them to people who consume plant-based diets.

As a group, the large portion of the meat eaters are made up of people who eat processed and non-organic meat and whose other food choices and often sedentary lifestyles are less healthy than the majority of plant eaters.

People who consume a plant-based diet tend to be more health conscious and live healthier lifestyles than sedentary processed meat consumers A better conclusion for most of these studies would be that plant-eaters who live healthy lifestyles are healthier than meat eaters who do not live or eat healthily.

I will give credence to studies showing the superiority of plant-based diets and the dangers of eating meat when they have studies that compare organic meat eaters whose other food choices and lifestyle are equally as healthy as the plant eaters they are compared to.

I believe that such studies would reveal that healthy people who consume at least some meat actually enjoy advantages over the plant eating crowd.

Insofar as the adaptations for eating plants the author writes about and her purported lack of such adaptations, I have to say "bunk". Our ancestors adapted, or evolved if you will, to eat meat millions of years ago. Today, we remain adapted to eating healthy meat. Our teeth and our guts are those of omnivores and NOT those of herbivores.

And so I continue and always will continue to eat at least some meat along with plenty of vegetables, fruits and nuts and such - and try to keep my food choices healthy.
