I have been following the Virginia gun law crisis and read many articles, viewed several videos and listened to an interview with an officer of the Virginia National guard. At this time what the democrats have been saying is nothing more than talk when it comes to enforcing the laws they are hoping to pass at the state capital. The counties have stood up and said they will not allow a confiscation of guns and the arrest of citizens by any officers. The National guard in Virginia has a grand total of 8,000 soldiers, and not all of them are trained soldiers but support group. They would not be able to be an effective force against 2 million citizens. And no such order has been given anyway. But, if there was a shooting war that started after the laws were passed, no one knows what the federal government would do. Trump has been highly influenced by his daughter and son in law that are anti gun. He has also made statements to the fact he could confiscate guns if that is what he decided to do. At this time no word has come from Trump where he stands on this issue. But, if there are shots fired and casualties in Virginia in the next few months, it is possible the federal government would get involved.

In my opinion, the proposed new gun laws will be tabled and not made into state law. If that does not happen, then the people in Virginia would be headed for a dangerous confrontation - that has not only awakened the citizens of Virginia but has also gathered a massive uprising nationwide of support against these incremental anti-gun laws. If the Virginia governor and state politicians are wise, they will see the hand writing on the wall and realize they have kicked a hornet's nest - and it would be best to drop the subject altogether. As it stands now, the political tide has turned so far away from the liberal democrats that a republican victory in state and national positions in 2020 is now more likely to happen. George Eaton
