CORRECTION:

Shemitah year, is the year BEFORE the Jubilee year. The current Shemitah year began Sept 25, 2014 and will go to Sept 13, 2015.

Jubilee year is not officially recognized until it is "proclaimed" on Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement), which is Sept 22-23. [2015]

Yes, I have been a little confused by Rabbi Cahn's use of the term "Jubilee" in his writings and interviews. His main thesis is that every seventh seven-year shemitah cycle is a special shemitah, but his explanations of how this correlates to a Jubilee have seemed a bit fuzzy to me.
